What Are You Living For?
Real living is enjoying the luxury and all the benefits the world has to offer for some people. I which situation was Paul writing this? Did he have all the money to afford a "good life"? Did the affection of his people surround him? No, the apostle Paul was a prisoner of the Romans. So what was the secret of his serenity and inner strength?
"For me, to live is Christ." His life could well pass for a failure in the eyes of his contemporaries, and it did not matter to him: he found in Jesus Christ the answer to all the needs of his conscience and his heart.
This experience is not reserved for the apostles. It is available to anyone who has believed in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. To achieve it, one must live for Christ and in his company. This allows us not only to endure - without them destroying us - the circumstances we are going through but to do so while seeking to please our Master. And this concerns both a young person and an adult confronted with everyday problems. By God's grace, let us accept to have this experience; it will enrich our life of faith. It is on earth, and in every situation, we experience the reality of our living relationship with God. We will derive eternal benefit from it. The opportunity is given to us to show that we love the Lord Jesus.
We might not die physically, but we live for Christ every time we choose to sacrifice our fleshly desires for the sake of the Kingdom pursuit, and that is a significant gain.
I hope and pray that we can identify areas in our life where we need to die to live for Christ. That might be a long journey, but are we willing to take the first step?
